Inactive Chiefs-49ers: Smith-Schuster will play; Edwards-Helaire out

The Kansas City Chiefs have released their list of inactive players for Sunday afternoon’s game against the San Francisco 49ers. As expected, defensive end Mike Danna (pectoral muscle) will not play for the game. Neither running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire (due to illness), nor tackle Ethan Driskell, offensive lineman CJ Hanson and defensive tackle Marlon Tuipulotu will be there. But wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster (hamstring) will play in San Francisco.

Danna was explained out of in the latest injury report from Friday. Smith-Schuster was listed as questionable for the game. Edwards-Helaire was on report this week but participated fully in practice and did not receive an injury report. He – and the rest of the inactive players – should be considered a healthy scratch.

For the sixth straight game, the Chiefs chose not to elevate a player from their practice squad.

The 49ers also released their inactive list. As expected, wide receiver Jauan Jennings (hip) and placekicker Jake Moody (ankle) will not play on Sunday. Cornerback Darrell Luter Jr. (pelvis) will also not be there. But wide receiver defensive tackle Kevin Givens (groin) and Ricky Pearsall (chest) will be dressed for the game.

Jennings and Moody were listed out of on Friday. (Placekicker Matthew Wright was also listed out ofbut has since been placed on the 49ers’ reserve/injured list – so he is not listed here). Givens, Luter and Pearsall were all portrayed as questionable for the game on Sunday.

On Saturday, the 49ers paired practice kicker Anders Carlson and defensive back Jaylen Mahoney for the match. As promoted players, they will automatically be reinstated to the team’s training squad after the game. Both are active for the competition.
