Bradenton (Florida) IMG Academythe No. 1 team in Florida, hit the road Friday night to face the second-ranked team Venice Indians. After building a 21-10 lead, IMG held off Venice’s second-half comeback to win 21-16.

Four-star wide receiver from Venice Winston Watkins Jr. knotted the score at 7 before IMG added two more points to the table before halftime. The offense was quiet for IMG in the second half, but the Crusaders managed to fend off the Indians’ comeback attempt. Venice hit the ball from the 1-yard line early in the fourth quarter but was unable to capitalize on a late drive.

IMG improved to 6-1 on the season prior to the meeting East St. Louis — the No. 1 team in Illinois — on Oct. 25. On the other hand, Venice lost a game for the first time this year after opening with six straight wins. Next up are the Indians River view on Oct. 10.
