If the team loses to the Raiders in Week 7, the Rams will have to make an outrageously bold QB move

The Los Angeles Rams are hanging on by a thread in the 2024 NFL season, and a loss in Week 7 should force the team to make an outrageous QB move. I had high hopes for the season, but an insane amount of injuries really derailed that season. I mean, it’s not impossible for the Rams to turn things around.

They get to host the lowly Las Vegas Raiders in Week 7. The Rams are coming off their bye week, so if you ask me, they’re going to embarrass the Raiders. This game could really be the biggest banger of the week. It would be a huge disappointment if this team didn’t make it on Sunday, but if they don’t and fall to 1-5, they wouldn’t just get closer to number one. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, but they should also consider a big QB change.

Trade Matthew Stafford?

Yes, absolutely. The chances of the Rams turning things around and making the playoffs in 2024 would be virtually nil with a loss in Week 7, and that’s especially true considering how deep the NFC is at this point in the 2024 NFL season stands. The trade deadline follows the Week 9 games, and if the Rams were to lose in Week 7, I’m not sure they would have more than two wins as the deadline approaches.

Since Stafford is still capable of playing at a high level, but in his age-36 season this year, the Rams would be wise to send Stafford to another team and get a head start on completing the deal from them orchestrated reconstruction. The team is loaded with young talent on both sides, but will need to bring in a younger franchise quarterback at some point. since everyone knew Stafford wasn’t a long-term option.

Two teams that I think could potentially take on Matthew Stafford are the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Miami Dolphins. The Steelers would seem the most likely to me; This team is 4-2 despite having Justin Fields play the pedestrian QB. It’s likely the Steelers will also use Russell Wilson in Week 7, so they obviously don’t have an established QB.

The Steelers could potentially include Justin Fields and some draft capital in a deal for Stafford, who could end up in a win-now situation with a strong defense and some good playmakers on offense.

It would be a logical move for both teams and a proactive move that takes GM Les Snead’s future into consideration. This may seem like a crazy idea, but considering everything I’ve laid out, it makes a lot of sense.
