was overlooked due to its limited publication.

I hope that the fantasy film 2023 Nimona has gotten a lot more love, even though it has a 92% Rotten Tomatoes rating. When I first saw this film, I was immediately engrossed in its rich world-building and fun twists on classic tropes. NimonaThe cast of complex characters kept me hooked the whole time as it spun the story of a wrongfully slandered knight and the strange child he befriends as he tries to clear his name. Although the story has a fairytale feel, it itself has a futuristic aesthetic that somehow works with its timeless themes and completely different characters.

The friendship between Nimona (Chloë Grace Moretz) and Ballister (Riz Ahmed) was heartwarming and hilariousmaking every moment both thrilling and filled to the brim with comedic gold. Nimonas The heartbreaking ending of the film left me in tears, but was still so satisfying, much like the classic stories it shares tropes with. All of these factors made Nimona, In my opinion as well as in the eyes of the audience, it is one of the best fantasy films of recent years, and if you look deeper into the matter, you will come up with even more reasons why.

“Nimona” from 2023 is one of the best fantasy films of recent years

Nimona’s sharp storytelling and twists made it stand out

NimonaThe storytelling and ability to subvert expectations are one of the many reasons why it was one of the best fantasy films of 2023 for me. From the moment the queen was killed, NimonaThe story managed to keep me on the edge of my seat despite its clear fairy-tale character. Ballister’s search for the truth, Ambrosicus’ (Eugene Lee Yang) struggles, and Nimona’s own journey brought freshness to the story. This was especially true as each new twist revealed both the death of the queen and the terrible monster the knights were meant to protect against.

Reviews on Rotten Tomatoes praise not only the way the film is told, but also many other factors that really made it stand out. Nimona unique. Critics praised the way the story effortlessly weaved its themes with a fast pace, which was helped along by the cast’s performances. Audience reviews, meanwhile, focused on the animation style, which took world-building to a new level and added several fun, futuristic twists to the traditional medieval knight and kingdom. But despite the praise from audiences and critics, Nimona deserved much more attention than it received.

Nimona deserved more attention than the fantasy film got

Despite his numerous awards and nominations, Nimona needed more attention

Although it was nominated for several prestigious awards, NimonaThe limited release resulted in the film receiving less attention than it deserved. NimonaThe initial release of was limited to a few select theaters, making it a largely Netflix-centric premiere. The film still received critical acclaim despite its release schedule and was nominated by several associations, including the Academy Awards. Nimona also won several awards, including the Columbus Film Critics Association Award for Best Animated Feature and the Annie Award for Outstanding Achievement in Writing and Voice Actor in a Feature Film Production.

It played with expectations and a fascinating trend in fantasy, showing how being labelled a “hero” or “villain” is ultimately based on perception.

Apart from that, The limited release, in my opinion, greatly diminished the impact of the film.Nimona had great nonbinary and gender nonconforming representation and wove it seamlessly into its classic fairy tale foundation and brought these narratives into the modern age. It played with expectations and a fascinating trend in fantasy and showed how being labelled a hero or villain is ultimately based on perception. That’s why Nimona deserves more attention: It not only tells an ancient story, but also dares to rewrite its happy ending.
