It’s a bad day for New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone after several questionable decisions last night ultimately led to the Dodgers’ Freddie Freeman hitting a walk-off grand slam and Los Angeles winning Game 1 of the World Series.

Writing that sentence was absolutely PAINFUL for me, a die-hard Yankees fan whose greatest sports moment came in 2003 when I stood outside Yankees Stadium to watch Aaron Boone ironically hit a walk-off home run against the Boston Red Sox put down as the Yanks advanced to the World Series.

And then, quite simply, that same Aaron Boone hero became a nonentity as he so mismanaged the Yankees’ bullpen last night that he practically handed the Dodgers Game 1 of the best-of-seven World Series.

Yankees fans are absolutely angry, angry, frustrated, angry – whatever word you want to choose about Boone’s many mistakes, but especially his decision to use Cortes in the 10th inning of the World Series when he didn’t make more than one pitch has a month due to an arm injury from which he is still recovering.

Cortes literally hadn’t made a pitch since September 18th!

Even the Yankees’ YES Network blamed him for pulling Gerrit Cole after just 88 pitches and going to the bullpen so early in Game 1, and for not backing up pitcher Tim Hill, who had been absolutely dominant in the postseason.

Boone’s reasons for going to Cortes? “He looked good in simulated games.”

*face palm*

Well, Aaron – you’ll have plenty of time to play simulated games on your X-Box, because if the Yankees lose, you might be out of a job.

You know Boone is especially screwed when DEREK JETER of the Yankees Holiness pissed him off for taking Cole out so early.

YANKEES FANS ARE NOT SATISFIED

The Yankees supporters didn’t take it too well either, as they ripped Boone non-stop all night long.
