A MARRIED couple enjoys free nights out thanks to their unconventional wedding registry.

One bride shared how she and her husband are making the most of their hometown after the wedding and getting more for less.

When signing up, Redditor Itinerantdustbunny decided to forgo practicality in favor of fun – who needs pots and pans?

“We signed up for season tickets, annual passes, memberships and subscriptions to museums, theaters, national parks, heritage organizations, sports teams and symphony orchestras,” she said.

“It’s so nice to have built-in date nights that we don’t have to pay for. It’s a great way to explore our city!”

And the discounts just kept piling up.

“Someone even upgraded one of the annual passes to a lifetime membership, so we will never pay for that again!” she added.

HOW IT WORKS

She explained that most registration services allow linking to products from other websites.

However, she noted that it ultimately depends on how the organization lists membership.

“If it were listed as a conventional product, we could link it to our registry, just like we linked dishes and towels,” she said.

“If it wasn’t listed as a conventional product, we set up an individual cash fund for it.”

In total, she and her husband have registered 12 memberships.

When it comes to the question of which activities should be listed as funds or product links, she says the ratio is about 50/50.

It all came down to how the membership acquisition product was structured “behind the scenes on the organization’s website.”

She compared the registration process to purchasing a gift card.

“It’s just a normal product that gets put in your shopping cart in the usual way and sometimes you have to go through a separate checkout process,” she said.

Other Reddit users were impressed by the unique registration idea.

However, one Redditor warned that couples should think twice about which website they use for their registration.

“If you go this route, I recommend With Joy because their registry does not charge a percentage on cash (like) Zola,” they advised.
