Charley Hull is nine under par, three strokes behind leader Lauren Coughlin heading into the final round of the Women’s Scottish Open at Dundonald Links.

Hull of England shot a 69 in the third round, leaving her just two strokes behind Coughlin’s American compatriot Megan Khang, who shared the lead overnight with Australian Minjee Lee.

German Esther Henseleit is also in third place alongside Hull with nine pars.

Hull’s compatriot Georgia Hall is tied for 14th place with two under par.

Last night’s co-leader Lee is eight under par, while Spaniard Nuria Iturrioz matched Coughlin’s round of 66 and is one of three players tied for 10th.

Coughlin made birdies on the fourth, seventh and ninth holes and added three more on the back nine holes.

The 31-year-old Minnesota native is aiming for her third victory as a professional and her second this year after her triumph at the Canadian Open in July.

Khang played par until the 11th and then made birdies on the 12th, 14th and 17th.

Defending French champion Céline Boutier improved on Thursday and Friday with rounds of 74, but her 71 strokes (one under par) were only enough for a total of three strokes over par.

Last year’s British Open winner Lilia Vu is five strokes over par after a third round of 77.

Dry and sunny conditions are forecast for the final round in Troon on Sunday.
