ELLICOTT CITY, MD – Howard County government offices, courts, animal shelters, 50+ centers and the Alpha Ridge Landfill will be closed on Monday, September 2, for Labor Day. Since there will be no curbside pickup of garbage, recycling, yard waste or food scraps on Labor Day, the county’s holiday schedule will be in effect for the remainder of the week.

County parks and the Roger Carter Community Center (RCCC) will be open on the 2nd. Please note that the RCCC will close at 5:00 p.m. on Labor Day. The center’s swimming pool will be open until 4:30 p.m. but may be closed for maintenance (call 410-313-2764, select option 5 for updates). The County Department of Recreation & Parks’ Cedar Lane and Schooley Mill Activity Rooms, the Gary J. Arthur and North Laurel Community Centers, Kiwanis-Wallas Hall, Meadowbrook Athletic Complex, Robinson Nature Center, county historic sites and the Harriet Tubman Cultural Center will be closed on Labor Day.

The Regional Transportation Agency (RTA) will operate on a “Sunday” schedule on the 2nd. For more information about the RTA, call 1-800-270-9553 or visit www.transitrta.com. All Howard County parking regulations and fees will apply on Labor Day.

The 9-1-1 Center and the police and fire departments are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In emergencies, call 9-1-1. In other cases, please call 410-313-2200.

Operations in the district will resume on Tuesday, September 3, during regular business hours.
