CHICAGO – Two old rivals will take to the ice on Wednesday night as the Detroit Red Wings hope to pick up some wins when hosting the Chicago Blackhawks.

The Red Wings and Hawks have been battling each other for nearly a century. From old rivals in the Original Six to decades-long division rivals, it’s always a treat when Chicago and Detroit face off. The Red Wings have a record of 413-320-84-17 against the Hawks, including wins in the last three meetings.

Both teams want to improve their performances from 2023 to 2024. The Wings began the year expecting to reach the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time in nine years. They had periods of failure and success. They lost three of their first four games and won three in a row, only to drop their next four games. But Cam Talbot’s timely goal and great play between the posts helped Detroit overcome its recent deficit with a 2-1 win over the Buffalo Sabers last Saturday.

Led by reigning Calder Trophy winner Connor Bedard, Chicago aims to break out of the difficult Central Division. With a more complete roster and some solid goaltending efforts, the Blackhawks look like a more confident squad, especially since they have won three of their last four games.
