How the Predators will face the Kraken on Tuesday night

The Nashville Predators look for their first win on Tuesday when they host the Seattle Kraken at Bridgestone Arena.

The Predators are winless in two games – a 4-3 loss to Dallas and a 3-0 loss to Detroit – and are hoping more offense can give them their first win.

Coach Andrew Brunette says the key is shot quality, not shot quantity.

“We still have a little bit to get in,” Brunette said Tuesday morning. “At the moment we are playing more of a perimeter game.”

Last Saturday, the Predators lost in Detroit despite firing 42 shots at goaltender Cam Talbot. According to Natural Stat Trick, Nashville had 73 even-strength shot attempts, but only 11 were considered high-danger.

Forward Colton Sissons said the key to improving shot quality was getting in front of the net.

“We have to put bodies in front of the goalkeepers,” Sissons said. “Guys are too good in this league without screens and traffic in front of them.”

Sissons added that he felt there were missed opportunities to cause Talbot more problems on Saturday.

“A couple of times we kind of left the middle of the ice. It would be good to have more body and more tenacity in net.”

The expected forward and defensive pairings for the Nashville Predators vs. Seattle Kraken

The Predators made a significant change to their forwards to get new forwards Steven Stamkos and Jonathan Marchessault on the scoreboard. Brunette said Monday that the addition of Cole Smith’s size and puck-retrieving ability should give Stamkos more time with the puck.

Here are the expected forward lines and defensive combinations for the Predators tonight against Seattle:

Filip Forsberg – Ryan O’Reilly – Gustav Nyquist

Cole Smith – Steven Stamkos – Jonathan Marchessault

Mark Jankowski – Tommy Novak – Luke Evangelista

Juuso Parssinen – Michael McCarron – Colton Sissons

Roman Josi – Dante Fabbro

Brady Skjei – Luke Schenn

Jeremy Lauzon-Alex Carrier

Scratch: Philip Tomasino
