How much does a Utah Hockey Club ticket cost? -Deseret News

The Utah Hockey Club had no problem selling out its first game at the Delta Center on Tuesday, a 5-2 win over the Chicago Blackhawks.

Capacity for each game is 16,020, including 4,889 limited-view seats, or what the team calls single-goal viewing seats. The club sold no season tickets for the 2024–25 season, totaling approximately 8,500 all-season tickets between half-season and full-season packages. Single game ticket availability varies by game. According to Smith Entertainment Group, the team can offer up to 5,000 single-goal viewing seats for sale on weekends and during high-demand games.

So how much does a single game ticket cost?

It depends. Prices vary depending on a number of factors, including when the ticket is purchased, the opponent, and the date and time of the game.

Take Utah’s next home game on October 19 against the Boston Bruins, one of the NHL’s most storied franchises. According to the Utah Hockey Club website, which directs online shoppers to its official ticketing partner SeatGeek, as of Wednesday afternoon, tickets range from $101 for the upper bowl to $757 for middle ice in the lower bowl.

Three nights later, when the Ottawa Senators come to town, the spread drops to $44 for upper bowl seats and $314 for courtside seats in the lower bowl. When the Colorado Avalanche hit the Delta Center ice two nights later, prices rose again.

According to Ticketmaster, the average ticket for a 2024-25 NHL game costs $100 to $120.

Ryan Smith, owner of the Utah Hockey Club, acknowledged the high prices and said the trend in sports is toward increasing player salaries and ticket prices.

“We’re trying everything we can on that front,” he said.

With a small budget

To ease fans’ wallets a bit, the team previously announced what Smith called the “Augusta National version” of concessions. The famous Masters golf tournament website sells sandwiches, snacks and drinks for $3 or less. At Delta Center this season, some vendors are offering popcorn, nachos, hot dogs and sundaes for $3 each. Dasani water bottles are available at all vendors for $2.

The team has also entered into a multi-year agreement with Nomi Health to offer the community 100 free Upper Bowl partial-ice view tickets, along with a hot dog and soft drink, at each game.

“Right now, especially in hockey, we want as many people to come in as possible,” Smith said as the team just opened its first season in Salt Lake City. But, he added, the views are somehow “forbidden” to us.

When the club announced the sale of single-game tickets in the summer, partial viewing seats started at $19.

Smith Entertainment Group plans to remodel the arena to improve sightlines for hockey while maintaining it as a basketball venue for the Utah Jazz.

“In ice hockey we do our best with the partial view seats. Once we have 17,000 seats here, it will be a completely different program,” Smith said.
