Hot end to the weekend before a big cool down

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A rollercoaster of temperatures this week as we feel like summer today and then experience our first frost of the season mid-week.

We end the weekend very warmly. Today’s highs could set a record for the hottest temperatures on this day in history, set in 1947. We’re forecast to reach 88 degrees this afternoon in Nashville under mostly sunny skies. It will also be a bit breezy today, with winds around 10-15 mph. Some gusts may reach around 25 mph at times.

A cold front will move in tonight and drop our temperatures significantly this week. Lows will fall into the 40s overnight.

High temperatures on Monday will be 20 degrees cooler than today. Expect a beautiful fall afternoon in the upper 60s with bright sunshine. By Tuesday morning, lows will be back in the 40s.

Tuesday will be mostly cloudy and even cooler with high temperatures in the upper 50s to low 60s. Even colder air sets in overnight. We will see temperatures drop into the 30s for almost everyone in the Midstate. At sunrise, many could see the first frost of the season – especially on the Cumberland Plateau.

There will be bright sunny skies for the rest of the week. Highs will remain in the low 60s on Wednesday before warming to the mid 60s by Thursday. Low temperatures will still be cold in the 30s and there is a risk of further frost.

We’ll warm up again by the end of the week. Highs will be back in the 70s Friday and Saturday under sunny skies. By the weekend, lows will also push past the 30s into the mid to upper 40s.
