Many fans had a hard time recognizing it DIYer star Richard Karn as he was spotted making a rare public appearance in Los Angeles.

The 68-year-old and his wife Trudi Roche (who also appeared on DIYer as Carrie) were out shopping for groceries in the snapshots she took Daily Mailand posted on Saturday, October 12th. In the pictures, Karn looks much slimmer – but what stands out most in the photos is the actor’s white hair and beard.

fans of the former Family feud Hosts took to social media to share their thoughts. “Seems healthier with the extra weight – of course I would say so!” one fan on X (formerly known as Twitter) remarked about his slim physique. A second added that they thought the actor “looked better before…” while a third wrote: “He said ‘I don’t think so’ because of the weight.”

Karn is best known for his portrayal of Al Borland, the co-host of Tool Time, the television show within a television show, alongside Tim Allen DIYer. According to an article by Weekly entertainmentThe role was originally given to Stephen Tobolowsky, but the actor dropped out due to a scheduling conflict that led to Karn being offered the job. The outlet goes on to say that he was originally a guest star in the series’ test pilot, but later became a permanent fixture when the series was picked up by ABC.

In 2002, the actor was selected as the fourth presenter in the history of Family feudreplaces comedian Louie Anderson. Karn hosted the game show for four years before leaving in 2006. The TV star has been hosting since then Bingo America and most recently played Fred Peters in 11 episodes of Hulu PIN15.

The former game show host and wife Trudy, 69, have been married since 1985 and have a son together named Cooper Karn Wilson, who was born in March 1992.
