Hochul says Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally is a ‘white flag of surrender’

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) said she considers former President Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally on Sunday to be a “white flag of surrender.”

“I think he’s waving the white flag of surrender,” Hochul said Sunday on MSNBC’s “The Weekend.”

“He’s coming back to a city he knows well. He feels comfortable here. Maybe he wants to sleep in his own bed.”

Hochul contrasted Trump’s rally with Vice President Harris’ plan. She is campaigning in the critical battleground state of Pennsylvania.

Trump will go into his “known, familiar” environment, but that will not be of any use to him in the election campaign, argued Hochul.

“He gives up because why else would you come to New York City? You won’t find any undecided voters on the streets of Manhattan today.”

The event is expected to draw thousands to deep blue Manhattan. The Trump campaign said several prominent Republicans would join the 45th president, as well as well-known guest stars.

Trump’s vice president, Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), billionaire Elon Musk and former Fox News host Tucker Carlson are expected to attend.

The former president travels to Georgia on Monday, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, Wisconsin on Wednesday, Nevada on Thursday and back to Wisconsin on Friday.

With less than two weeks until Election Day, the New York City rally may be questionable for some, but sources close to the Trump campaign say it’s about garnering media attention in the final days of the race.
