Here’s who the Texas Tech women’s basketball team will face in the 2024-25 season

Krista Gerlich and the Texas Tech women’s basketball team announced a revised schedule for the 2024-25 non-league season on Tuesday.

Gerlich enters her fifth year as head coach with hopes of turning the Lady Raiders into a potential NCAA Tournament team. They will have ample opportunity to accomplish that goal this season against stronger opponents before Big 12 Conference play begins in late December.

The Lady Raiders open the season on November 4th by hosting Incarnate Word at United Supermarkets Arena. This is the first of six consecutive home games to start the season. Houston Christian (November 7th), New Mexico (November 12th), Washington State (November 16th), Abilene Christian (November 19th) and New Orleans (November 23rd) will also visit Lubbock during this stretch.

From there, the action continues as Texas Tech heads to the U.S. Virgin Islands to compete in the Paradise Jam Tournament, facing Florida State (November 28), Gonzaga (November 29) and Missouri State (November 30).

Between the away games against SMU (December 11) and Arkansas (December 15), there will be two more home games against Stephen F. Austin (December 3) and Lamar (December 17).

In total, Texas Tech will play six games against FBS schools – programs within the Power 5 basketball conferences as well as those affiliated with the Group of 5 schools in football. This is the most high-profile conference opponents the Lady Raiders will face outside of the Big 12 since the 2012-13 season.

The trips to SMU and Arkansas are particularly notable. The last time the Lady Raiders played a power conference opponent in a non-conference game — aside from in-season tournaments like the Paradise Jam and the now-defunct Big 12/SEC Challenge — was on Nov. 26, 2017, when Texas Tech hosted 19th-ranked Texas A&M.

Tech’s non-conference opponents combined for a record of 248-170 last season. Florida State and Gonzaga each fell in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, while Washington State, Missouri State, Arkansas and Lamar each participated in the Women’s Basketball Invitational Tournament (Wazzu made it to the semifinals).

The Big 12’s 18-game conference schedule is scheduled to begin in late December. The Lady Raiders will play Colorado, Houston and TCU twice each, host BYU, Utah, Oklahoma State, Baylor, Cincinnati and West Virginia and play Arizona, Arizona State, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State and UCF on the road.
