Heat’s Thursday contest against the visiting Hawks was postponed by Hurricane Milton

The Miami Heat’s Thursday night game against the Atlanta Hawks at Kaseya Center has been postponed due to Hurricane Milton. The game has been rescheduled for October 16th at 7:30 p.m.

The Heat announced Tuesday that all tickets for the originally scheduled date will be accepted for the new date.

According to the Heat, any fans unable to attend the rescheduled date will be able to receive a refund with their purchase.

The postponement will mean an unusually busy week for the Heat, now scheduled next week on Sunday (3:30 p.m. vs. the New Orleans Pelicans), Tuesday (7:30 p.m. vs. the San Antonio Spurs) and Wednesday (the postponement). Have home games (7:30 p.m. game against Atlanta) and an away exhibition on Friday at 8:00 p.m. against the Memphis Grizzlies.

The compact schedule is made easier by the Heat having the NBA offseason maximum of 21 players, which must be reduced to no more than 18 by Oct. 21.

Coach Erik Spoelstra has stressed the importance of getting minutes for all of his players, including the longshots on the roster who will likely next be sent to the team’s G League affiliate, the Sioux Falls Skyforce. Next week will probably provide plenty of opportunity for this.

The Heat open their regular season on October 23 against the visiting Orlando Magic.
