Heat could cut ties with beloved Bam Adebayo to acquire the $175 million superstar

The Milwaukee Bucks could resort to trading their franchise cornerstone Giannis Antetokounmpo to start a rebuild.

The team is off to a 1-6 start and has lost six games in a row. Time is running out for a potential trade request from Antetokounmpo, and it appears the Bucks will have to navigate their challenges without injured star Khris Middleton for the foreseeable future.

The Miami Heat could offer the Bucks an opportunity to retool their roster with young talent instead of completely rebuilding it. Bucks coach Doc Rivers likely won’t be willing to endure a rebuild at this stage of his coaching career.

FanSided’s Michael Saenz suggested the following mock trade:

Bucks received: Bam Adebayo, Kel’el Ware, Kevin Love, Haywood Highsmith, 2029 and 2031 first-round picks

Heat reception: Giannis Antetokounmpo

Saenz noted that the Heat only have two tradeable first-round picks, but “If they really wanted to blow the Bucks away with an offer, they could include (Jaime Jaquez Jr.).”

The only way an Antetokounmpo trade doesn’t involve more picks is if Antetokounmpo weakens the market by naming which franchises interest him. This strategy wouldn’t be ideal for the Milwaukee front office if it wants to maximize its return on a potential deal.

It would be pretty confusing if Antetokounmpo was potentially traded for two first-round picks while the New York Knicks traded five this offseason for Mikal Bridges, who has never made an All-Star team.

Miami agrees to this deal to maximize its championship window with Jimmy Butler.

A core of Butler, Antetokounmpo and Tyler Herro would cause problems in the Eastern Conference. Milwaukee makes this deal if Antetokounmpo asks to get out, and they’ll be forced into a rebuild. The 2029 and 2031 first-round picks would be valuable assets going forward, while Highsmith would provide some wing depth without Middleton. Adebayo would become their cornerstone while Ware develops into a rock-running, rock-protecting five-pointer. Kevin Love is only involved for salary adjustment purposes.
