Harris steals plan to abolish tip tax from unusual source: Trump

Kamala Harris has taken Donald Trump’s tax cut proposal and passed it off as her own. It’s such a bold strategy that I almost commend her for trying.

If you come closer, I’ll let you in on a secret: Kamala Harris’ best idea actually came from Donald Trump.

As a Republican who hates Trump, I hate to say this, but it’s true.

It is routine for politicians running for president to present a policy agenda and make promises. We are even used to seeing how often they break those promises once they are in office.

But deceiving your opponent and passing off his idea as your own is a bold strategy.

At a campaign rally in Las Vegas on Saturday, Harris promoted a proposal to eliminate the federal income tax on tips. Good idea. I wonder who thought of that first?

It’s a plan Trump has been talking about for months. In fact, Trump talked about repealing the tax at his own campaign rally in Nevada in early June.

When CBS News reported that Harris was suddenly advocating for a post-Trump tax cut, it was said that she was merely “echoing” the voice of her rival.

Of course, Trump did not originate the idea of repealing the tip tax, but neither President Joe Biden nor Vice President Harris have taken any action to repeal the tax during their four years in office.

Biden wants to cut taxes? That’s ridiculous. In fact, he proposed the opposite.

Trump’s idea of eliminating the tip tax is popular because it appeals to ordinary voters who are struggling to make ends meet, largely because of the inflation rate, which has skyrocketed under Biden’s economic policies.

Now Harris has betrayed Trump without giving him a hint. And what makes it worse is that much of the media hasn’t called her out on it. If Trump had, he would have been branded a thief.

I know Trump is terrible. But he is still better for America than Harris.

Has Harris forgotten that she is the incumbent Vice President?

But Harris didn’t just steal a proposal from Trump. She is also doing things on the campaign trail that she could have done over the past four years.

At the same campaign rally in Las Vegas, the Democratic presidential candidate rattled off a list of things she would accomplish if elected in November. “When I was a United States Senator, we fought together for paid family and medical leave,” she said. “And I promise everyone here that when I am president, we will continue our fight for America’s working families. That includes raising the minimum wage and eliminating taxes on tips for service and hospitality workers.”

Harris later advocated for a future that focuses on “affordable health care, affordable child care and paid vacation.”

“If I’m president, I’ll continue this work to lower prices,” she said. “I’ll go after big corporations that engage in illegal price gouging, corporate landlords that unfairly raise rents for working families, and the pharmaceutical industry and cap the cost of prescription drugs for all Americans.”

This all sounds like a social utopia. But if these are such good ideas, why haven’t she and Biden implemented them yet? It’s as if she forgot that she’s the sitting vice president.

How liberal is Tim Walz? By choosing Harris as vice president, she is confirming her radical left-wing plans. The Republicans must take advantage of this.

Harris’ claims about the border are ridiculous

For most politicians, their record is a blessing, not kryptonite. Once they have a reasonable list of accomplishments, they brag about it wherever they go. But not Harris.

As we say in Texas, she acts like this is her first rodeo, but at the same time claims to be an experienced rider.

“I was attorney general of a border state,” Harris said at a rally in Arizona on Friday. “I went after transnational gangs, drug cartels and human traffickers. … We know our immigration system is broken, and we know what it takes to fix it.”

To me, as a Texan who has seen and reported on conditions at the border firsthand, Harris’ claim is a joke.

The chaos at the border is largely the result of policies Biden implemented immediately after entering the White House. He should have reversed those decisions as soon as data showed that migrant crossings had risen to record levels.

By pretending she had nothing to do with our “broken” immigration system and border security, Harris absolves herself of responsibility for problems that she and Biden have actually made worse.

For Harris, the question is not, “What will she do for America?” but, “What has the Vice President done?”

Harris travels the length and breadth of the country, pretending she hasn’t had time to push her ideas during the past four years as Biden’s No. 2. Then she takes Trump’s tax cut proposal and passes it off as her own. It’s such a bold strategy that I almost commend her for trying.

But voters should ask themselves why Kamala Harris’ promises and her record as vice president do not match.
