Harris’ medical report concludes that “physical and mental toughness” is required to be president – and that Trump’s fitness is under scrutiny

A medical report on Vice President Kamala Harris’ health was released less than a month before the presidential election.

According to a letter from her doctor, Harris enjoys “excellent health” and “possesses the physical and mental stamina” required to serve as president.

Dr. Joshua Simmons, a U.S. Army colonel and physician to the vice president, wrote that Harris, 59, maintains a healthy, active lifestyle and that her last physical exam last April was “unremarkable.”

She “possesses the physical and mental resilience necessary to successfully discharge the duties of the presidency, including those as head of government, head of state and commander in chief,” he wrote in the two-page letter.

The Harris-Walz campaign hopes the release of the letter will provide a contrast with Donald Trump, 78, who has released limited information about his health over the years.

Many have questioned the former president’s fitness to serve another four years in office, both from a health perspective and his mental capacity.

This week, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie became the latest to sound the alarm about Trump’s “significant” mental decline.

However, in response to the release of Harris’ medical report Saturday morning, Trump campaign communications director Steven Cheung said in a statement: “President Trump voluntarily provided updates from his personal physician as well as detailed reports from Dr. Ronny Jackson treated him after the first assassination attempt. Everyone has concluded that he is in perfect and excellent health to become Commander-in-Chief.”

He continues: “He has maintained an extremely busy and active campaign schedule like no other in political history, while Kamala Harris has been unable to keep up with the demands of the campaign and reveals daily that she is running for office President is completely unsuitable.” United States. Her schedule is much tighter because she reportedly doesn’t have the stamina of President Trump. Polls reflect this.”

Linked under the statement were two letters from Rep Jackson, Trump’s former doctor, about the wound on the former president’s ear after the assassination attempt in July, as well as a letter from Trump’s current doctor dated November 20, 2023 – almost a year ago – President Joe’s birthday Biden – Reportedly in “excellent” physical and mental condition.

As the 81-year-old commander in chief sought re-election, Trump eagerly questioned the president’s health.

But now that Biden has been replaced on the ballot by Harris, Trump’s own health has drawn more attention given his advanced age and his behavior on the campaign trail.

The 2023 letter from the former president’s doctor does not contain information such as weight, blood pressure and cholesterol levels or the results of tests that could support his claims.

Meanwhile, the Harris report goes into great detail about her health and medical history. Dr. Simmons, who said he has been Harris’ primary doctor for three and a half years, said the vice president has suffered from allergies and urticaria, also called hives, in the past, for which she has undergone allergen immunotherapy for the past three years.

Simmons said Harris’ recent blood work and other test results were “unremarkable.”

The report also reveals that the vice president wears contact lenses because of mild nearsightedness; there is a family history of maternal colon cancer; and she is up to date on preventive care recommendations, including colonoscopy and annual mammograms.
