Harris insults “loser” Trump while drinking a beer with Stephen Colbert

Kamala Harris opened a beer and used the opportunity to attack election rival Donald Trump The Late Show with Stephen Colbert On Tuesday night, he called the former president a “loser” and joked, “This is what happens when I drink!”

The Democratic presidential candidate took the stage to thunderous applause from the CBS show’s studio audience and immediately took a swipe at Trump, exclaiming, “You know how to pronounce my name!”

Colbert invited her to have a drink with him, and Harris happily accepted a can of Miller High Life, describing it as “the champagne of beers.”

The moderator then asked her a “gotcha question”: “Did Donald Trump lose the 2020 election?”

She replied: “I’ll tell you what some of the people at my rallies have – quite a lot of people come, by the way.

“You know, if you lost, you lost millions of jobs, you lost manufacturing, you lost automobile factories, you lost the election. What does that make you? A loser.”

She laughed at the remark and joked, “This is what happens when I drink!”

The beer immediately drew an angry response from Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung, who responded to I think she’s one of them.

Harris also used the interview to address a line from veteran journalist Bob Woodward’s new book that alleges Trump secretly sent Vladimir Putin a shipment of Covid-19 test kits for his personal use during the pandemic – an accusation that the Republican campaign has rejected.

“Remember how many people didn’t have tests and tried to get them?” she asked.

“Do you remember how rare it was to have one? Remember how hundreds of people died every day? …And this man gives Covid test kits to Vladimir Putin.

“Think about what that means. He also sent love letters to Kim Jong-un. No, think about it. He considers Vladimir Putin to be his friend. What about the American people? They should be your first friend.”

Harris went on to criticize Trump’s admiration for “strongmen” like Viktor Orban, Putin and Xi Jinping.

“He openly admires dictators and authoritarians,” she noted.

“He said he wanted to be a dictator from day one if he were elected president again. He’s played by these guys. He admires so-called strong men and is taken advantage of because they flatter him or show him favors.

“The Commander in Chief of the United States of America must stand strong and defend the principles we hold dear. We should stand with our allies. We should strengthen the alliances we have, such as NATO, the strongest military alliance the world has ever seen. We must stand with our friend Ukraine, where Russia is trying to change borders by force.”

Harris also criticized Trump for playing “political games” over the response to Hurricane Helene — and now the looming Hurricane Milton.

“There is a lot of misinformation out there and I implore you not to pay attention to it because there are a lot of people who are there to help you deal with the immediate aftermath and what people need. “ “What we can do to get through the peak of this emergency and crisis,” she said.

After describing her experience meeting a traumatized woman in Georgia whose husband was killed by a falling tree, the vice president rebuked Trump for his misleading claims about federal relief efforts: “What upsets me so much is the idea that any politician would play political games with these people, with people who are in the midst of such suffering, loss of life, loss of home, loss of normalcy.”

Harris praised the bipartisan cooperation between the Biden administration, FEMA and local state governors and said of Trump’s attacks: “It’s gross, it’s gross.” Don’t you have empathy, man? You know, for other people’s suffering? When you pretend to be a leader, don’t you have a sense of purpose to understand that being a leader means lifting people up in times of need, not manipulating them?”

After strongly warning Floridians about the threat posed by Milton, she was asked about her performance in the debate against the Republican and her thoughts during a particular exchange in which she posed with her chin on her fist as her opponent spoke.

“It’s family TV, right? “It starts with a W, there’s a letter in between, then the last letter is an F,” she joked.

Harris has stepped up her media appearances in recent days after previously being criticized for not doing enough press and making guest appearances on Call her dad Podcast, CBS 60 minutesABC’s The view and Howard Stern’s Sirius XM radio show.
