“Hamish Anderson ‘Electric’: Album Review”

They say a third album holds no surprises for longtime fans; Electric does not fit into this category. The all-rounder from Melbourne has created innovative arrangements for 12 tracks of 70s blues rock, fused with contemporary sounds.

Co-produced with Grammy-nominated engineer David Davis (Miguel, The War on Drugs, Keith Urban), Hamish Anderson has reached new levels of musicianship and rollicking bravado.

The collection can be compared endlessly. “Late in the Evening” could easily remain seated Canon by Tom Petty, while “It Ain’t Easy” is Keith Richards’ legendary swagger with a slightly more anthemic edge. However, the earth-shattering blues rocker “So Alive” is the highlight. Thanks to his crisp style and modernist flavor, it’s no wonder Gary Clark Jr. and George Thorogood take Anderson on tour at every opportunity.
