Dia de los Muertos at the Children’s Museum of Houston – The Children’s Museum of Houston is magically transformed into a colorful, beautiful and lush Land of the Dead, filled with incredible offerings of mariachi, “sugar skulls” and marigolds in celebration of El Día de los Muertos. $19.95. 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Market Square Park Farmers Market in downtown Houston | FREE – The vibrant downtown destination is bursting with Saturday morning energy as Houstonians shop for fresh produce and artisan goods at Central City Co-op merchants, listen to live music from the Leslie Lugo Trio, and enjoy the great fall weather and people watching. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Día de los Muertos Family Day and Craft Market at the Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts | FREE – The Spring Museum hosts a day of activities and art for all ages, with vendors, art activities, face painting and community ofrendaPerformances by Itzcoatl Tezkatlipoka and Ballet Folklorico and more. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Road trip! Caddo Cultural Day at the Caddo Mounds State Historic Site | FREE – Head west from Alto in East Texas, where the Caddo tribe shares culture and traditions at the state’s historic site. Expect traditional cooking demonstrations, vendors and more showcasing Caddo culture. 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Down Syndrome Association of Houston: Houston Buddy Walk at Sam Houston Race Park – Now celebrating its 50th anniversary, the Down Syndrome Association is hosting an outdoor fundraising walk to support people and families affected by Down’s disease. $25. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Hands On Houston Festival at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft | FREE – Participate in hands-on craft lessons for all skill levels led by members of the Artist Residency Program. Guests can make a Day of the Dead clay talisman and mixed media house collage, watch live demonstrations and more. 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

First Saturday Art Market in the Heights | FREE – In its 20th year, Houston’s OG Artist Market on 19th Street offers unique items from Houston-area artists. Expect to find a selection of paintings, sculptures, photographs, jewelry and more. Sip wine or a beer and enjoy live music while you soak up the atmosphere. 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Dia de los Muertos: East End Houston at Esplanade on Navigation | FREE – Navigation Blvd. The Esplanade in the Second Ward is the venue for a cultural celebration of eternal love that includes a day of traditional music and dance performances, a local art and vendors market, ofrendasGroceries, margaritas and more. Noon to 7 p.m.

Texas Mexican Kitchen sweets at Sylvia’s Enchilada Kitchen – In this practical cooking class you will learn how to prepare it Polvoronesflan, capirotada (bread pudding), BunuelosPumpkin empanadas and Mexican hot chocolate. You get to try out your work at the restaurant and get lots of it to take home and share. $70. 1 p.m.

Houston Dia De Muertos Parade and Festival at Sam Houston Park | FREE The Día de los Muertos Festival returns to downtown with an evening of live music, a parade from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., delicious concessions, crafts and more. Participation in the parade is free, but traditional clothing full of pomp and beauty is recommended. 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

ROCO: Open-hearted in the Church of St. John the Divine – The 40-piece orchestra, led by Grammy-winning conductor JoAnn Falletta, performs two world premieres – that of Jonathan Leshnoff No grain, no pearl and Juan Pablo Contreras’ Alma Monarcathat honors his family and the tradition of Día de los Muertos. Pay what you want; $35 recommended. 5 p.m

Opening reception: Homeland: Random Reflections of a Native Son at Archway Gallery | FREE – Check out new paintings and mixed media works by Harold Joiner based on his experiences growing up in New Mexico and traveling as an adult. 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.; Lecture at 6:30 p.m.

Día de los Muertos in Axelrad | FREE – Get in the mood with mariachis and live music, lucha libre and more mercado. There will be a community altar to honor those we have lost. Under 21 are welcome until 8 p.m. 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Katy Sip N Stroll in the ark – Sample 300 wines and more than 30 restaurants while enjoying live music, photo opportunities, artisan vendors, and more. $75 and up. 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The Health Museum Gala: Mysterious Worlds at the Hotel Zaza Museum District – The Museum’s Gala Fundraiser shines a light on the invisible synergies around us that connect the health of body and mind to communities and the planet. $1,000 and up. 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Maria Becerra in concert at White Oak Music Hall – The Argentine singer-songwriter began her career on YouTube in 2019 and has since been nominated for eight Latin Grammys. She’s coming to Houston for a live concert on the downstairs stage. $44 and up. 7 p.m.

Ghosts of the Night: A Tequila Celebration and Don Julio Tequila Dinner at the Hilton Galveston Island Resort – Raise your glass to the Day of the Dead with a curated four-course menu of vibrant Mexican cuisine, with each dish paired with premium Don Julio tequilas. $135. 7 p.m.

Candlelight Concert: From Bach to the Beatles at the Lone Star Flight Museum – The Listeso String Quartet performs a 60-minute concert combining classical works by Johann Sebastian Bach with the Fab Four’s classic hits – including “Blackbird,” “Eleanor Rigby” and “Here Comes the Sun.” $60 and up. 7 p.m.

Comedian Dane Cook at the Bayou Music Center – Known for his observational, sometimes raunchy comedy, Cook brings his Fresh New Flavor Tour to downtown Houston. $54 and up. 7:30 p.m.

Pilobolus: recreation at the Miller Outdoor Theater | FREE – Completing the Hermann Park venue’s 101st season, this dynamic collection of dance pieces – bold experiments and groundbreaking new collaborations – stands alongside classic works known for changing the landscape of dance and theater. 7:30 p.m.

Houston Dash vs. Bay FC at Shell Energy Stadium | Saturday – The Dash will close out the 2024 season with a special fan appreciation night as they take on the women of the San Francisco Bay Area. $12 and up. 8:30 p.m.

Diwali Celebration at the Children’s Museum of Houston Experience Diwali with your children, the festival of lights celebrated worldwide, which symbolizes the victory of good over evil in the cultures of Hindus, Sikhs and Jains. Culturally enriching activities will be offered as part of the museum celebrations, including traditional Indian dance evenings, storytelling sessions, rangoli art workshops and more. The Diwali celebration is included in general admission. 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

7th Annual Fall Pop-Up Market at Toque Event Space – Browse and shop handmade gifts, artisan products, a la mode fashions, beautiful jewelry and more at the annual holiday shopping kickoff event. 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Gauguin in the New World exhibition opening at the MFAH – The new exhibition spans six of the museum’s galleries and examines the arc of Gauguin’s career, from his Impressionist beginnings in Paris to his final years. Half of the exhibition is devoted to Gauguin’s work in Tahiti and the Marquesas Islands. The MFAH is the only U.S. museum to host this exhibition. $24. 12:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

De Boulle Cup at the Houston Polo Club – Enjoy a fall double-header of world-class polo with 2024 professionals Houston Polo Magazine. Expect live music, a halftime champagne divot stomp and more. $18 and up. 14 o’clock.

Houston Grand Opera: The Trovatore at the Wortham Center – Verdi’s exciting score drives this family drama about a family’s confrontation with their secret past against the backdrop of a politically divided Spain. $28 and up. 14 o’clock.

Houston record exchange at Axelrad | No cover – Record sellers in the Houston area will build and sell their collections of records, CDs and cassettes. Bring your used music to swap and trade. 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse Live concert at the Smart Financial Center – Experience the visually stunning sequel (PG, 2023) to the Oscar-winning animated film “Spider-Verse” with an energetic live performance of the film’s iconic score and soundtrack. $24 and up. 3 p.m.

Classical Arts Society of Houston: Grand Carnatic Vocal Concert by Amritha Murali & Team at MATCH – Some of India’s greatest classical Carnatic music musicians will perform on the Midtown stage. $25 and up. 4 p.m.

Sensorium: Sounds of revival by Frewuhn in the Buffalo Bayou Park Cistern | FREE with RSVP – Houston musician and sound artist Frewuhn harmonizes with Rachel Rossins Haha, really Installation in a 60-minute show inside the cistern. 4:30 p.m.

MLS Cup Round 1: Houston Dynamo FC vs. Seattle Sounders – Cheer for the Dynamo and get loud as Houston takes on the boys from Seattle in our home first round playoff game. 5:30 p.m.
