Borussia Dortmund’s Niklas Süle and Pascal Gross took part in final training for Tuesday’s Champions League game at Real Madrid, but it was unclear whether they would be fit for the rematch of last year’s final.

But the two, along with goalkeeper Gregor Kobel, were part of the squad that trained individually on Monday.

Süle is bothered by a gastrointestinal infection, while Gross was substituted at half-time in Friday’s 2-1 Bundesliga win over St. Pauli Hamburg with an undisclosed problem.

Dortmund won its first two Champions League games 3-0 at Club Brugge and 7-1 against Celtic, but have been inconsistent in Germany, where they narrowly won their last game 2-1 against St. Pauli Hamburg on Friday.

Sports director Sebastian Kehl admitted that Real will be a big test for his team.

“Real is the biggest club in the world. We have already fought big battles there. I believe that the team will approach the task with full commitment,” said Kehl before saying goodbye.

Record winners Real beat Dortmund 2-0 in the last Champions League final in June and want to make up for the 1-0 defeat at Lille in the last game of the elite tournament.

“I definitely don’t think we have a chance. We showed that in the final a few weeks ago,” said Kehl.

Dortmund were also better in the European Cup last season, reaching the final but only finishing fifth in the Bundesliga.
