Great TV tips for the week of August 12, 2024 • AIPT

If you want to fill that Olympic gap in your TV schedule this week, we are pleased to present our TV picks from Channel Surfing. Get ready for more crazy adventures with everyone’s favourite family from the planet Shlorp in a new season of Solar opposites. A novel by Carl Hiaasen is adapted into Evil MonkeyThen a popular pop culture duo gets the anime treatment in Rick and Morty: The Anime.

Adaptation to life on earth

Korvo, Terry, Yumyulak and Jesse initially came to our planet to colonize it and build a new home for their people. After four seasons, the Solar Opposites have deviated from their original plans and decided to call it their home and live alongside humans.

In the new season, Korvo and Terry explore their relationship further and take it to a new level. Also, the replicants haven’t been doing particularly well in school and are in danger of being set back a year. The biggest development concerns the residents of the Wall and where they are now settling. If you watch the trailer to the end, you may see the reappearance of one of their former rulers.

Stream the complete fifth season of Solar opposites starting today, August 12, on Hulu.

A case full of trouble

Bill Lawrence has a productive relationship with Apple TV+ and has Ted Lasso And shrinkage for the streaming platform. His latest project is an adaptation of a bestselling novel by Carl Hiaasen.

Evil Monkey follows a former detective, now a food inspector, who investigates a murder case in which the only remnant of the victim is a single human arm. He soon finds himself caught up in a world of corruption and greed that stretches from the Florida Keys to the Bahamas. If he can solve the case, though, he may get his old job back.

The two-part series premiere of Evil Monkey is on Wednesday, August 14, on Apple TV+.

Another part of the multiverse

What began as short films featuring a legendary Adult Swim duo has evolved into a full-fledged series. Rick and Morty: The Anime comes from the visionary mind of Takashi San and is produced by Sola Entertainment, with Jason Demarco and Joseph Chou serving as executive producers.

We find Rick finding refuge in a pseudo-world between multiverses. Elsewhere, mother-daughter team Space Beth and Summer battle the evil Galactic Federation, and Morty falls in love with an enigmatic girl who turns out to be an ageless being. The appearance may be different, but you can expect more sci-fi fun.

Rick and Morty: The Anime Premieres Thursday, August 15 on Adult Swim.
