    LEXINGTON, Ky. – Vanderbilt football won its second straight SEC game Saturday night, defeating Kentucky 20-13 at Kroger Field.

    The Commodores (4-2, 2-1 SEC) picked up their second road win of the Clark Lea era. The first away win in 2022 also came in Kentucky.

    Quarterback Diego Pavia was active on talk shows and was named Maxwell Award Player of the Week. Pavia threw for 143 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 53 yards.

    Pavia appeared to suffer a knee injury late in the third quarter, but returned to the game with a brace on his right knee.

    The Wildcats are coming off an open week and previously defeated Ole Miss. Kentucky has not scored more than 20 points in any of its SEC games.

    Fourth quarter

    Kentucky scored a touchdown in less than two minutes and marched down the field. But the defending champions failed to score an extra point to keep the Vanderbilt lead at seven.

    Kentucky nearly scored late in the third quarter, but the defending champions dropped the snap on a field goal attempt and had to attempt a throw that was intercepted. The Commodores rushed downfield, but the drive stalled, leading to Taylor’s fourth 50-yard field goal of the season.

    Vanderbilt’s drive stalled after Diego Pavia left the game after losing his helmet on a second-down play. Taylor made the 49-yard field goal, extending the Commodores’ lead to 10.

    Second quarter

    On 3rd-and-8, Diego Pavia hit Richie Hoskins for an 18-yard touchdown with 13 seconds left in the half.

    During a running game at Kentucky, Vanderbilt pass rusher Miles Capers suffered a hit and had to be carried off the field on a stretcher.

    Kentucky methodically marched down the field with a run-heavy attack and Sumo-Karngbaye scored from a yard out early in the second quarter.

    First quarter

    Diego Pavia fought away from rushers and found Newberry for a 20-yard score after a 4:52 drive in which Pavia ran 50 yards.
