Full stands, Taylor Swift and Teddy Roosevelt open day 2 of the Solheim Cup

GAINESVILLE, Virginia – Greeted by Taylor Swift over the loudspeakers and in front of a sold-out crowd, Nelly Korda and Allisen Corpuz arrived at the first tee Saturday morning to begin Day 2 of the Solheim Cup.

After a Shuttle bus fiasco on Friday which resulted in significant delays in the arrival of fans and left hundreds of spaces empty on the first tee when the competition began, the problems at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club appear to have been resolved.

The LPGA issued a statement on Friday evening (after cancelling a previous one that said Friday’s fans would receive two free tickets to Saturday or Sunday’s game as compensation) and said it had made “significant” changes to the shuttle system, including increasing the total number of buses running.

Korda and Corpuz will face Europeans Carlota Ciganda and Emily Pedersen in the morning foursome, with the USA leading 6-2.

After the real Barack Obama greeted players at the opening hole on Friday afternoon, Teddy Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln (the Washington Nationals mascots) were there on Saturday morning.

Corpuz asked the DJ to keep the music playing and the fans to keep cheering. He then walked down the fairway and bid farewell to the US team.
