French First Lady Brigitte Macron makes a cameo appearance in the Netflix series “Emily in Paris” | Emily in Paris

French First Lady Brigitte Macron will make a cameo appearance as herself in the Netflix series “Emily in Paris” when new episodes are released on Thursday.

As Elle magazine revealed on Tuesday, Macron will wear her own clothes, “without having received any special instructions” from the series known for its fashion.

Show creator Darren Star told Elle that Macron has “great talent.”

According to “Emily in Paris” lead actress Lily Collins, the 71-year-old former teacher’s cameo appearance had been in the works since 2022.

“The idea … came to us when Darren Star and I met her at the Élysée Palace in December 2022,” Collins said.

“She’s a huge fan of the show and took the mention in season one with a lot of humor. This scene in season four is tongue-in-cheek and filming with her was both an honor and a real pleasure.”

It is the second time Macron has played herself on screen. In 2018, she appeared in Vestiaires, a French comedy series about two disabled swimmers. Earlier this year, it was announced that a six-part biopic titled Brigitte, a free woman (Brigitte, a free woman) was in production.

The second half of the fourth season of Emily in Paris will be released on Netflix on Thursday.

Since its launch in 2020, the series has attracted a sizable audience. The first half of season four garnered nearly 20 million views at debut, and the series has regularly appeared on Netflix’s top 10 lists – although it has also made headlines for its absurd storylines and sweet portrayal of Paris.

In France in particular, the series was criticized for its stereotypical, fanciful portrayal of life in the City of Lights, from the beret-wearing bon vivant lifestyle to sterilized, Instagrammable scenes of the capital.
