Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman became the first player in MLB history to hit a home run in six consecutive World Series games when he hit a home run in Game 4 at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday.

The hit, which gave the Dodgers a 2-0 lead in the first inning, was Freeman’s fourth of the 2024 World Series. His last two World Series home runs in this series came in Games 5 and 6 of the 2021 Fall Classic, when he was at played for the Atlanta Braves.

In the first game between New York and Los Angeles at Dodger Stadium, Freeman tied the game with a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the 10th pitch – the first in World Series history. With two outs in the bottom of the inning, Freeman, slowed all month by an ankle injury, led the Dodgers to a 6-3 victory.

Game 2 proved to be a home run fest, with all first runs scored the same way. Juan Soto of the Yankees scored one hit against Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Tommy Edman, Teoscar Hernández and Freeman of the Dodgers each had one hit against Carlos Rodón.

Freeman then blasted a home run to give the Dodgers another 2-0 lead heading into Game 3 in New York. After taking a commanding 3-0 series lead on Monday, Freeman was informed that he had tied George Springer’s World Series record with his home run in five consecutive games. “Let’s hopefully get it to six,” Freeman said.

A day later he did exactly that.

No player has ever hit a home run in every game of a World Series, and only Springer has done so in four consecutive games of the same series.
