FOX News Media made a final pitch Wednesday to host a debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump, sending letters to each campaign.

FOX News Media executives sent a letter to the Harris and Trump campaigns offering to host another debate in Pennsylvania on October 24 or 27 with Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum as moderators.

“This would provide an opportunity for each candidate to make their closing arguments,” wrote Jay Wallace, president and editor-in-chief of FOX News Media, and Jessica Loker, vice president of policy.

Wallace and Locker also pointed out that New York Times editor-in-chief David Swerdlick called on Harris to debate Trump on Fox News in an article published Tuesday.

Fox News’ proposed criteria and format mirror those of CNN’s debate at the ABC showdown in June and September.

Fox News proposed a 90-minute debate with two commercial breaks, with only Baier and MacCallum asking questions. A coin toss would determine placement on the podium and order of closing speeches. Candidates would stand behind podiums without props or pre-written notes and there would be no live audience.

Letters to each campaign also detailed Fox News Channel’s success in the ratings department, suggesting large audiences would tune in ahead of the crucial election.

Since the Biden-Trump debate on June 27, Fox News Channel has been the No. 1 network in all weekday evening television.
