Four injured in collision between semi-trailer and Honda in Santa Maria – edhat

On Saturday, a serious traffic accident occurred at the intersection of Telephone Road and East Clark Avenue in Santa Maria, involving a semi-trailer truck and a Honda sedan, injuring four people.

The collision, which occurred at 3:55 p.m., involved a semi-trailer truck carrying 150 barrels of crude oil.

The Santa Barbara County Fire Department confirmed that the semi-trailer sustained no damage and that no crude oil was released during the collision, which could have prevented a major environmental disaster and additional hazards on the road.

Although there was no release of hazardous substances, the accident resulted in several injuries. Four people, passengers in the Honda, sustained injuries of varying severity. Two of the patients sustained minor to moderate injuries and were immediately transported by ambulance to Marian Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The other two victims, an adult male, had to be extricated from the vehicle immediately. He was flown by CalStar helicopter to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, while the other seriously injured man was taken by ambulance to Marian.

The incident caused heavy traffic in the area as emergency services such as fire, police and medical response teams converged on the scene to provide assistance, carry out rescue operations and ensure the safety of the surrounding area. Local authorities regulated traffic flow, investigated the cause of the accident and assessed the condition of the vehicles involved.

The exact cause of the collision is not yet known, but the quick response of the Santa Barbara County Fire Department and the fact that an oil spill did not occur were crucial in preventing further injuries or environmental damage.
