Former Yankees manager Joe Torre and his influence on the referees for Game 3

Here’s a look at who our staff will win in Game 3.

Chad Jennings – Dodgers

Just because a sweep seems so unlikely and because the series has been moved to New York, it’s logical to expect the Yankees to win in Game 3. But the Dodgers lineup seems so stuck. Confidence has to be extremely high and I expect Walker Buehler to be at his best in the playoffs.

Cody Stavenhagen – Yankees

If I keep picking the Yankees, eventually I’ll be right. Right? This World Series won’t be fun with the Dodgers taking a 3-0 lead, and despite a good NLCS finish, Buehler has been a mess more often than not this season. I’ll take the Yankees with home runs from Aaron Judge and Juan Soto.

C Trent Rosecrans – Dodgers

Game 3 with Buehler on the mound? Well, twice before that worked, in both 2018 and 2020, when the Dodgers won Game 3 in Buehler starts. I expect Judge to get back on track at home, but the Dodgers lineup has enough firepower to calm even a red-hot Judge. It would be a shame if such a good and exciting postseason ended with a win, which is why I expect the Yankees to win at least one of these games, but I’m sticking with Los Angeles tonight.

Sam Blum – Yankees

I think Aaron Judge will not only make contact tonight, but he will also hit a home run. That will be the difference in this game. The Dodgers are good, but New York and its best player won’t go down in this World Series.

Stephen J Nesbitt – Dodgers

My head says Yankees. My heart says Yankees. My three year old says, “The Dodgers won last time?” Then I think they will win again!” I enjoyed the first two games. I’ll leave this hack to little Luke.

Kaci Bourne – Dodgers

Let’s not think about it too much. The Dodgers are on a roll and Ohtani is fortunately unscathed. The Yankees are on defense now and look tense – it probably doesn’t help that even the home crowd looks less confident. I think it’s likely New York will make it to Game 4, but I don’t think they’ll make it tonight.

Noah Furtado – Dodgers

The “Will he, won’t he?” was short-lived: Ohtani will play. That must mean a lot for a clubhouse. It’s the World Series and your best player will be playing in pain. Things were going pretty well for Freddie Freeman, with his heavenly walk-off grand slam in Game 1 and another home run in Game 2. Not to mention, the Dodgers won both games while Ohtani went 1-for-8.
