Former star reporter Olivia Nuzzi is parting ways with New York Magazine weeks after allegations about the RFK Jr affair

A star political reporter who had an undisclosed “personal relationship” with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has quit her job after an outside investigation.

For years, Olivia Nuzzi has been at the center of New York Magazine’s politics and election coverage, interviewing both RFK Jr. and Donald Trump.

But in September it was revealed that Nuzzi had been placed on leave after her editors learned of her relationship with the scavenging scion, which the magazine described as a “breach of our readers’ trust.”

Now the release says they have agreed to an amicable separation from Nuzzi, although both internal and external investigations found no evidence that her relationship with RFK Jr. resulted in bias or inaccuracies in her reporting.

“Nevertheless, the magazine and Nuzzi agreed that the best path forward was to part ways,” they said in a statement on Monday.

“Nuzzi is a uniquely talented writer and we were proud to publish her work during her nearly eight years as a Washington correspondent. We wish her all the best.”

In response, Nuzzi’s attorney Ari Wilkenfeld told CNN she was “pleased but not surprised” that two investigations found no wrongdoing.

“For nearly eight years, she has consistently produced critically acclaimed and wildly popular journalism in her capacity as Washington correspondent for New York Magazine,” Wilkenfeld said.

“She is grateful to the editors, fact-checkers, and artists with whom she has worked, and to the readers who have supported her with their time, subscriptions, and engagement. She looks forward to the next chapter of her career.”

In court documents, Nuzzi has accused her ex-fiancé Ryan Lizza Politicos Chief Washington D.C. correspondent for tipping off her employer about her messages with RFK Jr. as part of a blackmail campaign to force her back into a relationship.

The 31-year-old journalist claimed Lizza hacked her personal electronic devices and leaked information to other media outlets after threatening to “destroy her life, career and reputation.”

Lizza, who has also been placed on leave by Politico while the company investigates the situation, has “strongly” denied the allegations and said he would fight them “vigorously” in court.
