Former Sixers guard Danny Green announces his retirement after 15 seasons

The Philadelphia 76ers brought in Danny Green in the 2020 offseason to add more shooting around Joel Embiid and, at the time, Ben Simmons. The veteran was in the midst of winning the third title of his career with the Los Angeles Lakers and was asked to keep his distance.

He then delivered a solid season in Philadelphia, averaging 9.5 points and shooting 40.5% from distance in the 2020-21 season, helping the Sixers secure the No. 1 seed in the East . In total, Green played 133 games over three seasons for Philadelphia, averaging 7.7 points and 3.2 rebounds while shooting 39.5% from distance.

On Thursday, Green announced his retirement from the league after 15 seasons. He also played for the San Antonio Spurs, Toronto Raptors, Memphis Grizzlies and Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Sixers sent Green to the Grizzlies on draft night in 2022 before returning to Philadelphia in the 2023 offseason. He played two games for Philadelphia in the 2023-24 season before being released following the James Harden trade.

Overall, Green was a steady player who worked hard to stay in the league. He proved to be a skilled player and earned the respect of everyone around him.
