Former New Jersey governor blasts Dan Campbell while whining about the Detroit Lions destroying the Cowboys

DETROIT — Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie blasted Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell while complaining about the blowout win over the Cowboys.

Christie is a huge Cowboys fan and spoke with Chris Rousso on the Mag Dog podcast about their 47-9 loss to the Lions.

“This is Dan Campbell,” Christie said. “He doesn’t have any classes. Never, so it’s okay.”

Aside from seemingly being the first person to have something bad to say about Campbell since he became the Lions’ head coach, it doesn’t feel like Christie has a strong leg to stand on.

Did the Lions increase the score? Yes. Did they want to prove a point by throwing a pass to an offensive lineman? You can bet on that.

But I’d like to hear snippets of Christie’s outrage when the Cowboys beat the Giants 40-0 last season. Or the Patriots 38-3. Or the Commanders 45-10. That Mike McCarthy guy: No teaching, I’m telling you that.

The Lions traveled to Dallas looking to avenge last season’s controversial loss, when they felt they had won on a last-second two-point pass to Taylor Decker.

We all know how that ended. And if anyone thought Campbell and his team wouldn’t get an answer to that, then they weren’t paying attention.

Anyway, here are more of Christie’s comments on the Mad Dog podcast:

“That’s the way he is, and what goes around comes around,” Christie said. “Dan Campbell is angry because the referees made a wrong decision in the game a year ago. Then play Roger Goodell. The Cowboys had nothing to do with the play being called incorrectly.”

He continued that the Lions are “looking into it” and “that’s not what professionals do.”

“It’s the reputation he will carry with him,” Christie said. “Honestly, I think most people think that’s his representative now anyway.”

Yes, if Christie thinks the league’s view of Campbell is negative, then he might be getting the wrong interpretation.

I understand a fan being frustrated because the Cowboys looked so bad – Detroit’s certainly been through this quite a few times – but it’s not the Lions’ job to keep the Cowboys close. It’s the Cowboys’ one.

That is Strictly speaking “What Pros Do.” I promise no one feels sorry for the Cowboys.
