Former governor Chris Christie calls on Dan Campbell for help after the Lions bury the Cowboys

The NFL world watched with delight last Sunday as the Detroit Lions demolished one of the league’s most hated franchises, the Dallas Cowboys, 47-9 in their own building.

But you know who didn’t love it? Dallas Cowboys fans. And that apparently includes former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.

During a radio hit with Chris “Mad Dog” Russo on “Mad Dog Unleashed,” Christie was asked what he thought about his Cowboys’ defeat being screwed over with a whole host of tricks and other nonsense.

The Lions apparently wanted revenge on Dallas, where Campbell played tight end for several years, after last year’s refereeing disaster in which the Lions believe the victory was unfairly stolen from them.

“This is Dan Campbell. He has no class. He never has,” Christie said of the nonstop use of tricks even though the game was completely out of control.

“It’s okay. It’s okay. Look, Dan Campbell, that’s who he is, and what goes around comes around.”

Russo clarified: So it bothered you?

“Well, I just think it was – look, I think it was misguided,” Christie continued. “Dan Campbell is angry because the referees made a wrong decision in the game a year ago. Then let (NFL Commissioner) Roger Goodell’s play run. The Cowboys had nothing to do with the play being called incorrectly. That wasn’t the case.” A challenge the Cowboys made. It was a decision by the referees; The Lions were hurt by it and the Cowboys benefited from it.

“That’s why you want to take your (anger) out on this while you beat the hell out of these guys and do it to yourself? I don’t think that’s what professionals do. But it is his prerogative; it is the reputation he will carry with him.

For Cowboys fans, Sunday is the nightmare they can’t wake up from.

But for the rest of the league? It’s the gift that keeps on giving.
