Former Georgia employee reportedly transfers to Georgia Tech

Former Georgia baseball head coach Scott Sctricklin is reportedly set to join Georgia Tech’s staff.

The Georgia baseball program went through some changes last calendar year, as they parted ways with former head coach Scott Stricklin and hired LSU pitching coach Wes Johnson as their new head coach. Now, Stricklin seems to have found a new place to go after his time with the Bulldogs, as Kendall Rogers has announced he will become Georgia Tech’s new director of operations.

Stricklin was in the running for the head coaching job at Ohio State this summer, but if reports are accurate, he will remain at Georgia State. Stricklin coached at Georgia from 2014-2023. He finished with a 299-236 record at Georgia and had three regional postseason appearances during that span. His best season was 2019, when the Bulldogs finished with a 46-17 record. Many would argue Georgia was on track to compete for a national title in 2020, as the program started 14-4 but ultimately canceled due to COVID-19.

This is Stricklin’s third stop at Georgia Tech during his college coaching career. He began as a volunteer assistant with the Yellow Jackets in 1998 and, after a stint at Vanderbilt, returned to Georgia Tech in 2002, this time as an assistant. Stricklin has many years of experience in college baseball, and his experience will be a great asset to his new role at Georgia Tech.
