Former Detroit Lions quarterback signed by the Miami Dolphins

ALLEN PARK – The Miami Dolphins have signed former Detroit Lions quarterback Tim Boyle from their practice squad to the main roster.

Boyle landed in South Beach after being released by the Houston Texans and landed on Miami’s practice squad before the regular season. He’s been bouncing back and forth between the practice squad and the 53-man roster while the Dolphins juggle quarterbacks and Tua Tagovailoa is out of action.

Tyler Huntley has taken over the starting role in recent weeks, while Skylar Thompson enters the weekend as questionable.

Boyle started two games for the New York Jets last year and threw for 360 yards with one touchdown and four interceptions. During his time in Detroit, the veteran quarterback started three games during the 2021 season, amassing 526 yards with three scores and six picks in three tackles for loss. He was on the team’s practice squad in 2022 and then was signed by a division rival in November.

In addition to stints with the Lions, Jets and Texans, Boyle also spent time with the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears.
