Flavor Flav and US women’s water polo team meet again in Las Vegas

The Paris Summer Olympics may be officially over, but that doesn’t stop Flavor Flav from spending time with the women’s water polo team and meeting up with them for a fun reunion on the Strip.

Over the weekend, Flav, 65, invited some members of the team – which he sponsored during the Games – to celebrate with him in Las Vegas. They stayed at the Conrad Las Vegas at Resorts World, visited Carrie Underwood’s residence, dined at Fuhu and ended the evening with a big party at Zouk Nightclub.

Water polo team members enjoying the celebration in Vegas included Maggie Steffens, Rachel Fattal, Jordan Raney, Ashleigh Johnson and Emily Ausmus.

Sharing footage of his Vegas vacation on Instagram, Flav wrote, “Brought some of the women from the US Water Polo team to Vegas. I’m so proud of all these women. Look at all the support and attention this sport and women’s athletics is getting. We are changing the game and that is a BIG reason to celebrate.”

The hip-hop legend continued, adding, “Thank you to USAWP and all the players for welcoming me to the team and accepting my sponsorship. Paris was a special experience in my life and we are just getting started!!”

In July, during a performance on CBS Morning Flav spoke with US women’s water polo team captain Steffens with hosts Gayle King and Nate Burleson about his appreciation for the team, according to Billboard.

“These women here… the women’s water polo team, they’re out there trying to make the United States look good,” he said. “And they’re chasing that dream, you know what I mean?”

As for Steffens, 31, she has enjoyed the rapper’s love, enthusiasm and support since he responded to her Instagram request for financial support. She told King and Burleson, “I was definitely surprised. I was really excited. When Flav responded, it was definitely not who I expected. But it’s been a beautiful, beautiful anticipation and relationship that’s changed, and he’s really opened a lot of doors and really been a hype man for us. It’s been incredible.”

During the interview, Flav surprised Steffens with the news that his sponsorship of the team includes a Virgin Voyage cruise and a $1,000 bonus. “This is incredible,” said a shocked Steffens at the time. “I’m thrilled, this is incredible. Thank you very much!”

Flav first spoke to PEOPLE about his partnership with Steffens and the rest of the water polo team in May.

“(I heard that) the water polo team needs some kind of sponsorship, you know what I mean?” Flav told PEOPLE. “And Maggie, I’ve heard about a lot of your accomplishments and I applaud you. I heard you won some gold medals and all that great stuff. I want you to keep doing that and build on it.”
