JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – We will continue to experience above average temperatures this first week of November. 71 and 47 are the normal high and low temperatures and we will see 10 or more degrees above these values. An approaching cold front is moving Gulf moisture overhead, so expect a few more clouds and some gusty southerly breezes.

This front should appear from the west on Tuesday. The chance of rain increases to 50% on Tuesday, Election Day. North of I-20 and during the afternoon and evening hours, chances for rain and thunderstorms are better. But we don’t expect a slip-up. However, rainfall amounts could be impressive over the next seven days. Another cold front heading into the weekend will bring abundant tropical moisture associated with a low pressure system in the Gulf of Mexico.

That brings us to the tropical outlook. A low in the southern Caribbean Sea has a 90 percent chance of becoming a tropical depression and moving into the Gulf by midweek. It’s not expected to strengthen into a tropical storm, but as a trough it will bring a fair amount of rain south.
