Tierra del Fuego‘S Max Thieriot And Stephanie Arcila You know fans want Bode and Gabriela to finally get back together – but it doesn’t sound like season three is in any hurry to make that happen.

During an exclusive interview with Us weeklyThieriot, 36, and Arcila, 34, individually commented on the “different dynamic” that lies ahead for Bode and Gabriela.

“There will always be love and you will always feel it,” Arcila teased. “Most relationships – most long-lasting relationships – start with friendships. You get to know each other and build a relationship. This will be a great opportunity for them to get to know each other at a different place in their lives.”

The season 3 premiere, which aired on Friday, October 18, showed Gabriela calling off her wedding to Diego (Rafael de la Fuente)but her future with Bode remained unclear. Arcila is looking forward to seeing if the fan-favorite couple can “build on” where they are in their lives.

Thieriot insightfully hinted at a similar break between Bode and Gabriela, which will hopefully bring them back together in the future Us“Their relationship is a symbol of that. These are two people who tried to explore this relationship with bizarre restrictions and limitations. Now that the handcuffs are off, so to speak, how can they move forward, and will they do so?”

Bode and Gabriela have taken one step forward and two steps back since they met. In Season 1, Gabriela formed a connection with Bode while dating Jake (Jordan Calloway). Gabriela ended her relationship with Jake to wait for Bode until he was released from the California Conservation Camp Program. Bode broke off the relationship when he was sent back to prison, and by the start of the second season, Gabriela was engaged to Diego.

“For anyone in any relationship – and for people looking at it from the outside – it’s important to recognize the battle between your mind and your heart and what should be and what shouldn’t be. “It’s all so human,” Arcila said of Gabriela’s conflicting feelings. “Society has developed these fairy tale stories specifically for women. The fact that people see Gabriella questioning things and not knowing where she wants to go is a beautiful part of the story.”

The actress expects some frustration from viewers. “A lot of people are angry and a lot of people are like, ‘Wait, what’s going on?’ What are you going to do? What is this?’” she remarked. “But at the end of the day, we’re all just completely flawed human beings.”

Arcila looks forward to further growth for Gabriela, adding: “There will be a lot of changes. This is a season that definitely shows its imperfections, which I’m so excited about because we’re all human. We are not perfect. We make mistakes and we all deserve forgiveness and redemption. So this is a story about redemption.”

Thieriot, meanwhile, urged fans to give their vision for Bode and Gabriela’s story a chance.

“It’s about finding that (storytelling) balance. You don’t want to experience instant gratification… (we’re) trying to stretch some of it out and earn those moments. That was easy when he’s in camp and options are limited. Now that he’s free, that’s been one of the challenges,” he revealed. “Figure out how to stay in that gray area a little bit and be able to fight through the relationship instead of just opening the floodgates and letting it become a thing.”

The wait was worth it. From “Stiles and Lydia” from “Teen Wolf” to “Joyce and Hopper” from “Stranger Things,” some television shows introduced couples who took some time to finally get together. The hit MTV series, which aired from 2011 to 2017, revolved around a high school student who transformed into a teenage werewolf after being bitten by (…).

The executive producer even argued that audiences might not actually want Bode and Gabriela together yet.

“Internally they don’t want that because then you lose the conflict and the fight. So this season is very much about playing out what I think will be fun,” he teased Us. “We get to see this back and forth and feel these two people who are also really in different moments of their lives in Season 3 than they were in Seasons 1 and 2. If Bode had come out right away in Season 1, I think they probably would have ended up together . But now that they’ve both experienced different things and become the people they are, it adds different layers in a great way.”

Tierra del Fuego Season 3 airs Fridays at 9 p.m. ET on CBS.
