Father gives son “wedding present worth $1 million” after winning lottery

A Virginia man received the ultimate wedding gift from his father – a lottery ticket worth a million dollars.

According to the Virginia Lottery, Aaron Andrews and his wife had been living in his father’s basement since his wedding in April while saving money for their own home.

But Andrews’ father helped speed up the process in a way he never expected by giving him his lottery winnings.

“I have a great dad who has always looked out for me!” Andrews told lottery officials as he cashed his winning ticket.

According to the Virginia Lottery, his father purchased a Cash4Life ticket and matched the first five winning numbers, which offer either a lifetime weekly prize of $1,000 or a one-time cash option of $1 million.

“Instead of choosing this himself, he gave the ticket to his son as a wedding gift,” lottery officials said. “Aaron chose the cash option, making it a $1 million wedding gift!”

The winning ticket was purchased at PJ’s Neighborhood Variety Store in Triangle.

After presenting his son with the generous wedding gift, Andrew’s father explained to lottery officials that it was all part of his plan to help the newlyweds in the next phase of their lives.

“That was the best way to get him out of my basement,” he joked.

Andrews himself wanted to use the money exactly as his father had intended. He told lottery officials that he was looking forward to buying a home for himself and his new wife.
