Fantasy Game Changers: Players to Trust in Cowboys vs. 49ers | Fantasy Football Live

The Yahoo Sports Fantasy Football Live team looks ahead to Sunday night’s matchup between Dallas and San Francisco and explains how Jordan Mason, CeeDee Lamb and the Niners’ wide receivers could impact fantasy managers.

Video transcript

Let’s get to our fantasy game changer for this week, powered by Ram Trucks.

We identify some of the most influential players in one of the best fantasy matchups on the schedule, and yet Sunday Night Football in the Cowboys 49 Ers isn’t quite what everyone thought it would look like when we thought about this game in preseason have.

The Cowboys sitting at three and three facing the 49ers at three and four will be a beautiful ball.

It’s a comfortable 69 degrees at Levi’s Stadium tonight.

49 is favored by 5.5, this value is 47.

So fantasy game changer Andie Bar for you.

It is.

Oh, it must be Jordan Mason.

It could be that we get to Jordan Mason’s last full-strength game of the season with Christian McCaffrey.

At least a possibility of a return after taking over from Kyle Shanahan can be assumed, but that’s not possible since he lied to us all year.

Uh, but if that’s it for Mason, I think he’ll have a monster game.

He was incredible in the first half.

He averages 5.2 yards per carry, nearly 100 and 10 scrimmage yards per game.

He ranks among the leaders in yards after contact per attempt, also has the most runs of 10 or more yards and the second-most missed tackles on his rush attempts this week. He’s currently being gifted a matchup against a Dallas defense that really, we’ve been picking on him all season.

I feel like we talk about him practically on every show as an opportunity to have a great week with our running back.

The Cowboys rank 28th against the run.

They give up over 100 and 40 rushing yards per game.

10 rushing touchdowns this season.

The most likely game plan for the Niners this week, given the injuries in the receiving room, is to simply rush a defense that hasn’t stopped a good running back this year.

So I’m expecting one of those 20-plus-carry, 100-yard, multi-touchdown performances from Mason.

Hopefully we don’t get Brock Purdy’s Vulture this week.

Frosted.

What do you think when I say fantasy game changer?

Yes.

So when you say “fantasy game changer,” I mean “fantasy game changer.”

Question mark: What might be left of the 49ers wide receiver room?

I mean, it’s such a shame not to have Brandon Auk, otherwise it sounds like we’ll get Debo Samuel back in this game.

Looking at the divisions when Brandon Auk is not on the field.

Debo Samuel is usually crazy about fantasy football.

But how healthy is he?

This is an outstanding question.

But seriously, I mean, a guy like Debo Samuel should absolutely destroy these hapless Cowboys’ defense.

But what about the rest of the guys in there?

No, Juan Jennings.

Is this the moment for Ricky Piersall?

I was a big fan, because you know that because we did the draft show together.

I was a big Ricky Pierson fan and understood why they made that choice.

But you know, the first game for Piersall didn’t necessarily go that well.

Uh, but I’m willing to show him mercy.

The guy was shot in August.

So I feel like we’ll get a great performance from Debo if he’s at 100%, but if not, now it’s Pier Sal’s turn to step up.

I’m confident in the player overall, really like him as a college prospect, but how ready is he to contribute?

So to me it’s more of a fantasy game changers question mark than a real statement.

Let me stop you here for a moment.

Harvey because I received a follow up from Matthew Mcneese in the YouTube chat.

It says stress level, stress level high with an exclamation point.

I’m sorry the guy says: start Debo Dobbs Bigsby as a last minute flex spot.

Need a make or break.

What do you think?

I, I mean, brother, I don’t know, uh, like De Samuel, it could be that he would be the right answer here, but I don’t know how healthy this guy is.

So, um, I, listening, Matthew, if you’re already stressed, maybe you don’t want to be stressed all day and then figure it out.

Oh, Debo Samuel only played five snaps in this game or something like that.

But then again, man, how stressed are you going to be if you don’t put Debo in your lineup and you’re watching Sunday night football and he scores like two touchdowns, one through the air, one through the ground.

Uh, Dallas Cowboys again, pathetic defense.

So, um, if it were me, you would feel Matthew for Matthew here, I’m going to take a chance and play Devo Samuel.

That’s my advice to you.

But I mean, I mean, I don’t know if there’s luck, but you just have to understand how people, it’s like going to the doctor and saying, “What’s wrong?”

He says I’m not sure.

I want AJ D, I want my doctor to be honest and honest with me.

I don’t want my doctor to come in and give me false hope when something is really wrong, like, “Yeah.”

Yes.

Yes, your knee will fall off in a few weeks.

Uh, but let me sugarcoat it.

No, I want to know.

I want honesty.

So I’ll give people honesty here, Fitz.

Yes, I am, I am easy, I am soft, Tara.

As usual, we talked too much about the 49ers.

I want you to save us all and remind us that there are two teams in this game.

When I say “Fantasy Game Changer” you’re saying I do it every week, which isn’t the case.

And it’s not intentional.

Here.

I’m here carrying the torch for Dallas.

Did I expect the 2024 season to be perfect for Dallas’ offense?

No, but um, I expected CD Lamb to be consistently better than he was at the beginning of this season.

Not only were the results generally where we wanted them to be, and even in games where he hit the target volume, he wasn’t particularly efficient with it and that lack of efficiency, the limited yardage, the problem with the touchdowns.

Um, it really wore him out last season at CD Lamb.

For him, success was based on volume.

He had a whopping 100 and 35 receptions, often with good targets, over 10 per game, giving him huge upside and making him one of the most reliable receivers in the NFL last week.

We knew for sure last year.

We know exactly what happened after a week.

That was the turning point for Dallas. Mike McCarthy came in there, he went into the kitchen, he started cooking and he fixed everything in here.

I expect there to be another key shift for the offense this fortnight and they start to consistently turn to him in the red zone and give him those high-volume opportunities.

I admit it feels strange to say I trust Mike McCarthy, especially as a Packers fan, but he’s done a good job of recognizing their weaknesses and making adjustments.

So this is the reset.

This is the moment it happens.

We’re getting the CD Lamb game changer this week.

Finally.
