Facts from Friday: Last look at the home game against Mercer

SCHEDULE | TICKETS

CHATTANOOGA—One. More. Sleep.

That’s all that’s left to do before the Chattanooga Mocs host the Mercer Bears at Finley Stadium on Saturday night. It’s the first home game and first chance in the Southern Conference for both teams with championship aspirations. Add to that a Top 25 showdown between the 14th-ranked Mocs and the 23rd-ranked Bears, and the stage is definitely set for an exciting night.

Here’s your final look and everything you need to know to be ready to play.

It’s been a while since you’ve been to Finley Stadium…what do I need to know? We got you. Yes, it’s been five straight road games, but the boys are back in town! The clear bag policy is still in effect, the facility is cashless and there are special offers galore. Here are all the relevant facts and figures associated with attending a game at Finley.

What is the 411 about tickets? Season tickets are always the best option, but you can also buy the 3-game mini-plan or go game-by-game. If you choose the single-game option, here’s a pro tip. Buy in advance at GoMocs.com. Tickets are $2 more at the Finley ticket booth.

I can’t make it tomorrow night but don’t want to miss it. How can I join in? There are plenty of ways to stay up to date. Whether it’s on your phone, tablet, computer or TV, there’s the ESPN+ broadcast. If you can’t watch, you can listen on WFLI 96.1/99.3 FM or 1070 AM plus 99.1 FM in Cleveland, or check back here at GoMocs.com. Still not for you? Then we’ll have to keep a low profile. There’s always @GoMocsFB on Twitter. Our strategic communications team is doing God’s work there (shoutout to Corey Belonzi), and there are live stats online here, too.

Mercer is a pretty new program, isn’t it? Yes and no. The Bears resumed the program last decade after a post-World War II hiatus. They are an old rival and have played against us over the decades in three different conferences – SIAA, Dixie and SoCon. The first game dates back to 1909. You can read the history here.

Look, I like to be informed. Just a little bit smarter (let’s be honest, a lot) than the person next to me at the water cooler. Especially that know-it-all Hanrahan. Where can I find out about the game? The GoMocs.com media center is here and features game notes from the Good Guys, Mercer and the league office.

Top 25 duel, what… when was the last time these two were ranked and played against each other? Well, that only happened once. That was the last time this pair met in the Scenic City. No. 10 Chattanooga 41, No. 11 Mercer 21. The Mocs have been ranked seven times in those meetings and have a 4-3 record on those occasions, 3-1 in Chattanooga.
