Examine the Browns’ QB situation with Jameis Winston set to face the Ravens

The new play caller

Dorsey is back today, calling the plays (like he did during his time as the Bills’ OC) and moving on. There are several answers to the question why. There’s never a good time for a change in play-calling, but Stefanski said in the spring he was open to it, one of the reasons he hired Dorsey. Since Winston was a big change, it was also a new beginning for the offense.

There was also a time management problem for Stefanski. The offense was struggling and Stefanski still spent most of his time working with that unit. If it didn’t help, that time wasn’t being used well.

For example, this move allowed Stefanski to attend more defensive meetings last week, giving him the opportunity to coach the entire team and, just as importantly, be available to the entire team. With games against the Ravens and Chargers looming before their Week 10 bye, the Browns have two games to evaluate and find out if it works.

Balancing the offense with greater Chubb involvement will be paramount, as will attacking all levels of the defense, which is what Winston can do with his arm. Also probably expect more play-action and under-center looks, as that better suits Winston’s skill set.
