The “It Girls” of the time always strut down the catwalk in a unique dress, earning them the iconic nickname “Chanel Bride”. Supermodels of the 80s and 90s like Claudia Schiffer, Linda Evangelista, Christy TurlingtonAnd Devon Aoki helped Karl Lagerfeld to start this bridal tradition, but current celebrities like Lily Rose Depp, Margaret Qualley, Kendall JennerAnd Cara Delevingne were tapped as modern muses. In honor of Coco Chanelthe founder of the brand, which celebrates her 141st birthday this month, we want to pay tribute to the best Chanel wedding dresses ever seen on the catwalk!

Claudia Schiffer made a strong start: at the fall 1991 show, she wore several bridal ensembles and used creative headwear.

For the fall 1992 show, Schiffer wore a tweed ball gown with black and white striped piping. The dress was so memorable that Dua Lipa wore it to the Met Gala 2023!

At the spring show of 1993, Claudia once again hit the jackpot: she wore a lace-covered dress with matching gloves and a veil.

Claudia had another hit at the fall 1993 show when she wore a white mini dress with the iconic Chanel flower, a camellia. A dress inspired by the 1993 version wore Sofia Richie when she married Elliot Grainge last spring in Antibes, Greece.

We promise there will be more faces to come, but Karl Lagerfeld was clearly inspired by Schiffer when he put her in a dress covered in tulle and ruffles for the Fall 1994 show.

Karolina Krukova In spring 2002, she walked the runway in a light pink floor-length dress, the bodice of which was slightly covered by a sheer cardigan.

One of the two bridal looks that walked the runway at the Spring 2005 show was entirely wintery and consisted of snowball-like appliqués over a glittering, transparent dress.

At the fall 2009 show, the bride and her groom walked the catwalk. Lagerfeld’s muse, Baptism of Giabiconimodelled as Lara Stone‘s fiancé as they walked down the aisle in tulle-embellished ensembles.

Lily-Rose Depp walked the runway at the Spring 2017 show wearing an oversized mauve dress with ruffles and a huge train.
