CARTAGENA PROVINCE, Colombia (August 8, 2024) – U.S. Navy Construction Electrician 2nd Class Enrique Velasques, assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 1, removes an electrical cable while conducting a small construction project at an elementary school construction site in Cartagena Province, Colombia, during Continuing Promise 2024. Continuing Promise 2024, a U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command-led mission, features multinational coordination, cooperation, and caring through partnered events in which U.S. military personnel, civilian mariners, civilian professionals, and volunteers conduct “diplomacy through good deeds” that improve local infrastructure, strengthen collective skills and capabilities, and create an environment of collaborative learning.
