Drone explosion reported near Zaporizhia nuclear power plant

One of the roads surrounding the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant was damaged by a drone attack.

This is stated in a report by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) that Ukrinform has seen.

“The nuclear security situation at Ukraine’s Zakhar nuclear power plant is deteriorating following a drone attack that hit the road surrounding the power plant site today,” the report said.

It is noted that the impact site was “near the important cooling water sprinkler pools and about 100 meters from the Dniprovska power line, the only remaining 750-kilovolt line supplying electricity to the ZNPP nuclear power plant.”

“There were no casualties and no damage to the NPP equipment. However, there was damage to the road between the two main gates of the NPP,” the IAEA stressed.

In addition, IAEA observers point to an intensification of military activities near the power plant in the past week.

As previously reported, Russia is making massive false accusations against Ukraine, claiming that the country is allegedly planning a “dirty bomb” attack on the Zakhar nuclear power plant.

Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhii Tykhyi denied the false accusations made on Russian media platforms.
