Dr. Vegapunk was initially considered a threat to the world government

The five elders and the government discovered his illegal early research

Before A pieceIn the current timeline, Vegapunk was considered a genius scientist from a young age, as he designed and built several robotic animals in his laboratory. His ideas were seemingly endless, but he lacked the money needed to make them a reality. Eventually, he ate the Nomi Nomi no Mi (literally Brain Brain Fruit), which allowed him to expand his brain indefinitely and retain all the knowledge he acquired.

As an adult, Vegapunk worked on the MADS research team, which included Judge Vinsmoke, Caesar Clown, Queen, and Buckingham Stussy, among others. The other MADS scientists focused on developing weapons, but Vegapunk used his genius mind to create other inventions that could be used in more peaceful ways, even earning him the coveted Ibel Peace Prize. This brought Dr. Vegapunk onto the radar of the Five Eldersand when they looked into his research more closely, they came to the conclusion that he and MADS posed a threat.

Vegapunk’s research on A pieceThe lineage factor (similar to DNA in the real world) caused the Five Elders to shut down the MADS team. However, Vegapunk remained a resourceful scientist and saw the closure of MADS as an opportunity to continue his quest for knowledge. He knew the World Government and the Marines would be interested in having someone as intelligent as him working for them – and he also knew they could provide him with the resources he needed to pursue his more ambitious projects.

After being recruited into the World Government following the closure of MADS, Vegapunk became a famous scientist known for his research on devil fruits and helped the Marines in their fight against A pieceThey developed an encyclopedia of knowledge about the world’s devil fruits and even attempted to recreate their powers through artificial means.

Vegapunk was also responsible for the miraculous discovery of the Seastone and its ability to counteract the powers of a Devil Fruit user. This breakthrough allowed the Navy and the World Government to use the rare mineral to create their weapons, including blades, spears, and even restraints such as handcuffs and cages.

Vegapunk’s research into seastone even allowed the Marines to line their battleships with the mineral, allowing them safe passage through the Calm Belt without disturbing the monstrous Sea Kings. He would continue to use his genius to further scientific advancements and try to make the world a better place, even if he was forced to work for evil people to achieve his goals.

Throughout his career, Vegapunk has been responsible for many A pieces greatest scientific achievements. His work extended far beyond the Seastone and Devil Fruit research he conducted for the Marines, and he was able to use the Five Elders’ funding to complete many notable projects.

Vegapunk had the idea of island-wide climate control, which essentially makes it possible to manipulate the weather of an entire island and regulated to make it more habitable. The idea was successfully implemented on Egghead, with Vegapunk wanting to expand on the original idea and further explore the concept of complete weather control.

Vegapunk was also responsible for the creation of artificial life forms; he successfully created two artificial dragons to guard Punk Hazard. He also conducted research into “organoids,” laboratory-grown organs that are said to be the future of medicine.

Vegapunk also created deadly weapons for the government

The Five Elders recognized Vegapunk’s genius potential and eventually put him in charge of the SSG – the Special Science Group – which was responsible for researching and developing advanced weapons for the World Government. After the government disbanded the Seven Warlords, they used the SSG’s Pacifista and Seraphim projects to replace the Warlords as one of the Three Great Powers.

The Pacifista was the first in Vegapunk’s research, The human weapons are clones of the former warlord and privateer Bartholomew Kuma. Vegapunk was able to improve the clones and transform them into cyborgs with incredibly enhanced powers. Although the Pacifista units were already strong in their own right, Vegapunk constantly tried to make them even stronger, eventually creating a new, superior type of clone.

The Seraphim were based on the Pacifista and built as the living weapons of the former warlords, but also mixed with the lineage factor of a Lunarian and enhanced with green blood that could mimic the powers of the Devil Fruit. This makes the Seraphim an insanely powerful tool in the Five Elders’ arsenal, and Vegapunk himself referred to them as the “strongest form of humanity”.

The Elders later turned against Vegapunk

Vegapunk’s thirst for knowledge would eventually prove to be his undoing, as the Five Elders investigated him because they suspected he wanted to learn more about the Void Century, which took place 900 to 800 years before the current storyline. The World Government considered any research into the Void Century to be one of the worst crimes possible – and that is precisely why Vegapunk wanted to uncover the truth behind this dark time. A piece‘s world.

After Cipher Pol agents investigated Vegapunk’s research and discovered that he had studied the forbidden knowledge surrounding the Void Century, the Five Elders ordered Vegapunk to be assassinated. With Vegapunk and Luffy both on Egghead, Elder Jaygarcia Saturn saw an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone and ordered a deadly Buster Call on the island.

The rest of the Elders arrived on Egghead and used his incredible powers to destroy Vegapunk’s years of research, setting the world back. Saturn eventually managed to wound Vegapunk by impaling him through the back. While Luffy and the Straw Hats attempted to carry Vegapunk to safety, Marine Admiral Kizaru managed to deliver a fatal blow, ending the life of the world’s greatest scientist.

Vegapunk’s death triggered his revenge on the Elders

The scientist planned his unfortunate death with a video message

Knowing that his research into the Void Century would likely be used against him, Vegapunk recorded a video message and planned to broadcast it immediately after his death. The clip was broadcast around the world and the public learned about Vegapunk’s entire research into the Void Century.

Vegapunk was able to share with the world what he had learned about the Great War between Joy Boy and the First Twenty — the monarchs who would later found the world government. He also revealed how the use of ancient weapons caused sea levels to rise worldwide, and shared his belief that the Mother Flame used to destroy Lulusia would cause sea levels to rise even further. Vegapunk concluded his message by warning that the world would soon sink into the sea, and that the fate of the world rested in the hands of whoever found the One Piece treasure.

The Elders were outraged by Vegapunk’s message and quickly worked to shut down the transmission. Luckily for Vegapunk, many people were still able to hear his message and countless people were inspired to search for the treasure. With Monkey D. Luffy revealed to be the reincarnation of Joy Boy, Vegapunk’s revelations spell trouble for the Five Elders and the rest of the government, and it’s very likely that Luffy and the rest of his crew will avenge their fallen friend and continue his mission to uncover the truth about the Void Century.
