Doorman saves woman from attempted sexual assault near Gracie Mansion

UPPER EAST SIDE, Manhattan (PIX11) – Police say a doorman is a local hero for saving a woman’s life Saturday morning.

Investigators said a 19-year-old was walking along 90th Street near York Avenue shortly before 1:30 a.m. when an unknown man shoved her and attempted to sexually assault her.

At that moment, a doorman from a nearby building heard the commotion and intervened, authorities said. He managed to scare away the man who tried to attack the 19-year-old.

Police say they are continuing to search for the man wanted in connection with the alleged assault. He is described as 6 feet tall and was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt with white stripes and dark jeans, officials said.
