DJ Lagway injury update: Billy Napier announces unfortunate news about Florida QB

Florida The fans hold their breath towards the end of the second quarter GeorgiaWatch quarterback DJ Lagway left the game with an injury. The car even came out to immediately take Lagway to the locker room. Redshirt freshman transfer Aidan Warner came into the game after starting the season ranked third.

An initial diagnosis of Lagway was made through the head coach Billy Napierstruggling with a hamstring injury. Napier described the injury as “pretty serious”, which likely means Lagway will miss the remainder of the game.

“He has a hamstring injury,” Napier told ESPN’s Holly Rowe at halftime. “Pretty significant. But he’s a tough kid. Look, I can promise you one thing: This team will definitely get behind him.”

Lagway moved the ball confidently against Georgia, giving Florida a 10-3 lead. Scoring another goal before halftime and then getting the ball out of the break could have been huge for the Gators. But the loss of Lagway with the injury cost the stadium a lot of life.

Although Lagway only completed two of his eight passes, he still managed a 43-yard touchdown pass. It was fresh off an interception by the UGA quarterback Carson Beck to give Florida the lead. Lagway added 18 rushing yards on four carries, including the three yards on the play on which the injury occurred.

Of course, quarterback injuries have been a key storyline for Billy Napier’s team this year. Graham Mertz tore his cruciate ligament Tennessee and was quickly ruled out for the rest of the season. Lagway took over with great excitement about the potential of the offense.

Questions about Lagway’s status are sure to arise during Napier’s press conference, win or lose. Florida has a game next Saturday against Texasit was the second of a series of five games that concluded the year.

Lagway played high school football at Willis (TX) High School, where he was a Five Star Plus+. He was the third overall recruit 2024 cycleaccording to the On3 industry rankinga weighted average that takes into account all four major recruiting media companies.
